Every child deserves a safe, quality education. I’m expanding opportunities through early education and youth programs, supporting students, families, and educators.
Protecting the Local Quality of Education & Supporting Our Students
Every child deserves access to a quality education in a safe and supportive environment. I’m expanding opportunities through early education investments, youth programs, and support for students, families, and educators.
Investing in Early Learning & Childcare
In 2025, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, including Elisa, adopted the 5-year plan for Measure C, the voter-approved Children’s Health & Childcare Initiative. This plan will invest nearly $1 billion in early care and education, including raising wages for early educators to at least $25 per hour, supporting professional development, and expanding apprenticeship programs.
Expanding Hands-On Learning Opportunities
Elisa is the lead sponsor and host of “Science in the Park”, a free, hands-on STEAM learning experience held biennially at Cal State East Bay, serving thousands of students and families across central and southern Alameda County. Conducted in partnership with CSUEB, local schools and organizations, the program brings science, technology, engineering, arts, and math education directly to Hayward, Union City, Newark, and Fremont students and families.
Elisa has also supported funding for programs like Ohlone College’s Young STEAMers initiative, expanding access to enrichment opportunities for local students.
Supporting Youth Leadership & Career Pathways
Through her Alameda County Board of Supervisors District 2 Office, Elisa has invested over $440,000 in the Raising Leaders program, providing workshops, mentorship, and paid internship opportunities for at-promise youth. Elisa has also supported community-based programs that provide scholarships and workforce pathways for students across Alameda County.
Standing Up for Students, Families & Educators
Elisa consistently stands up for local students, families, and educators; especially in these challenging and turbulent political times. When federal agents visited an elementary school in Hayward, Elisa responded immediately, working with local leaders and school officials to ensure students felt safe and supported. Elisa continues to advocate for immigrant students and families too, to protect and support their school communities across Alameda County.
