About Elisa Márquez

Elisa Márquez proudly represents the diverse communities of Hayward, Newark, Union City, and parts of Fremont as one of five Alameda County Supervisors. Raised in a hardworking family that has owned and operated one of Hayward’s oldest Mexican restaurants since 1966, Los Compadres, Elisa learned the value of hard work, community, and service early in life by helping out at her family’s small business. Those experiences shaped her values and commitment to serving others. Since taking office in 2023 as the County Supervisor representing District 2, Elisa has been a strong advocate for equitable healthcare, youth investment, compassionate public safety, and protecting Alameda County's most vulnerable residents - especially in the face of challenging federal policies. Elisa’s proudest accomplishments and priorities include:

Access to Quality Healthcare

- Led efforts to save St. Rose Hospital from closure, securing its affiliation with Alameda Health System
- Ensured continued access to emergency and acute care services for Hayward and surrounding communities
- Protected hundreds of healthcare jobs and a cornerstone of community health in District 2

Building & Keeping Community Trust

- Serves as Chair of the Alameda County Public Protection Committee
- Champions rehabilitation, accountability, and dignity within the county's justice system
- Expanded mental health services and educational programming at Santa Rita Jail and Juvenile Hall
- Supports reentry programs aimed at reducing recidivism and addressing root causes of justice involvement

Supporting Students & Quality Education

- Organizes Science in the Park, a hands-on STEAM learning experience in local neighborhoods
- Next event: Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Cal State East Bay
- Supports Raising Leaders, a youth development program offering mentorship, internships, and leadership training
- Recognizes young people as essential voices today, not just future leaders

Protecting Our Community Safety Net

- Serves as Vice Chair of the ACT (Alameda County Together For All) Ad-Hoc Committee
- Supported the establishment of ICE Free Zones across Alameda County
- Helped approve $7 million in funding for immigrant and refugee services
- Advocates for immigrants, refugees, LGBTQ+ residents, and those seeking reproductive healthcare
